Installing the Latest Supported Version of SQL/MX
Release 2.x
Installing the Latest Supported Version of
SQL/MX Release 2.x
Install the latest version of SQL/MX Release 2.x that is supported by the RVU of the
system. For more information, see NonStop SQL/MX Releases
on page 2-2 and RVUs
and Supported SQL/MX Releases on page 2-7.
Be aware that installing an SQL/MX release on your system overwrites the previous
SQL/MX release. Although NonStop SQL/MP and NonStop SQL/MX can reside on the
same node, only one release of SQL/MX software can reside on a node at a time. For
example, if SQL/MX Release 2.2 is installed on a node, SQL/MX Release 2.0 or
SQL/MX Release 1.8 cannot be installed at the same time.
Migrating From SQL/MX Release 1.8 to SQL/MX Release 2.x
The instructions in Section 10, Converting SQL/MP Applications to SQL/MX
Applications, and Section 11, Converting an SQL/MP Database to SQL/MX Tables,
assume that you have SQL/MX Release 2.x installed on your system. If you are using
SQL/MX Release 1.8, consider migrating to SQL/MX Release 2.x before you convert
SQL/MP applications and databases to SQL/MX applications and tables. To upgrade
from SQL/MX Release 1.8 to Release 2.x, see Part II, Migrating From SQL/MX
Release 1.8 to SQL/MX Release 2.x.
In multinode installations, where queries must access data on other nodes, all SQL/MX
Release 1.8 nodes must migrate to SQL/MX Release 2.x at the same time. A mixture
of nodes running SQL/MX Release 1.8 and SQL/MX Release 2.x is not supported.
Ordering the SQL/MX DDL License
To create SQL/MX database objects, you must purchase and install the SQL/MX DDL
license, product T0394. Without this product, you cannot create SQL/MX database
objects. If you try to create SQL/MX database objects without the DDL license,
NonStop SQL/MX returns an error message informing you that the system is not
licensed.
Installing Corequisite Independent Products
Order any corequisite independent products for the version of SQL/MX Release 2.x
that you install on your system. Some corequisite independent products include:
RDF
NonStop Server for Java
JDBC Driver for SQL/MX

H06.nn or G06.nn Release Version Update
Compendium.
