Interoperability of NonStop SQL/MX Releases
The nodes in an Expand network can run different releases of NonStop SQL/MX. Each
release of SQL/MX software can identify other SQL/MX releases with which it is
compatible or incompatible.
Table 2-4
on page 2-8 shows the interoperability of different SQL/MX releases on
NonStop systems running G-series or H-series RVUs. Each product version identifier
in the table (for example, H22) corresponds to a platform—“H” for systems running
H-series RVUs or “G” for systems running G-series RVUs—and to an SQL/MX release
number (for example, “22” for SQL/MX Release 2.2).
SQL/MX Release 2.x does not support interoperability with SQL/MX Release 1.8 in an
Expand network. You cannot query—through embedded SQL or dynamic SQL—
database objects on a node running SQL/MX Release 1.8 from a node running
SQL/MX Release 2.x, and vice versa.
In most cases, SQL/MX Release 2.x can interoperate with other versions of SQL/MX
Release 2.x, and interoperability is supported on systems running H-series and
G-series RVUs in an Expand network. However, there is one exception:
The SQL/MX Release 2.0 SPRs that were available before the ABJ SPRs are not
guaranteed to interoperate with other versions of SQL/MX Release 2.x. To ensure
interoperability between different SQL/MX releases and different platforms in an
Expand network, upgrade to at least the SQL/MX Release 2.0 ABJ SPRs on systems
running G-series RVUs.
