Falling Back From NonStop SQL/MX
Release 2.1 or Release 2.0
You should plan for a potential fallback to a previous database environment when you
are planning the installation of Release 2.1 or Release 2.0. If necessary, you can fall
back from Release 2.1 or Release 2.0 to any of these database environments:
•
Release 1.8
•
NonStop SQL/MP
•
Enscribe
You can also fall back from Release 2.1 to Release 2.0
Depending on the database environment to which you would return when falling back,
falling back might require changes to some or all of these:
•
Metadata
•
Tables
•
The RVU of the NonStop system
•
Corequisite product versions, including:
°
DP2
°
TMF
°
RDF
°
Measure
°
Backup and Restore 2
°
NonStop Server for Java
°
JDBC
°
ODBC
If you encounter a serious problem with Release 2.1 or Release 2.0 and decide you
need to fall back to a previous database environment, read this appendix carefully and
understand it fully before attempting the fallback procedure.
This appendix addresses these topics:
•
Fallback Considerations on page A-2
•
Preparing to Fall Back From Release 2.1 or Release 2.0 to Release 1.8 on
page A-3
•
Falling Back From Release 2.1 or Release 2.0 to Release 1.8 on page A-4
•
Falling Back to Non-SQL/MX Environments on page A-8
Note. If you encounter the problem when using new features that are specific to Release 2.1
or Release 2.0, you might choose not to fall back from that database environment, but rather to
discontinue using these features.
