Hardware Requirements
Hardware Requirements
Before you install NonStop SQL/MX, your HP NonStop S-series system must meet
these minimum requirements:
Note. To run NonStop SQL/MX, you need an NonStop S-series system that is configured with
Open System Services (OSS). The memory requirements for each processor depend on
application usage, the number of data volumes configured to each processor, and other
factors.
The minimum memory requirement is 1 GB for the development phase, with the expectation
that additional memory might be needed for production systems as required by the application
workload. For this reason, processors that do not support the 1 GB minimum memory
requirement (S74, S7000, and S7400) cannot be used with NonStop SQL/MX Release 2.1 or
Release 2.0.
Caution. NonStop SQL/MX requires processors that support IEEE floating-point functions. All
processors in a node on which NonStop SQL/MX is installed must be Model 1954 (S72000) or
later. A processor halt %005101 can result when one or more processors in a system do not
support IEEE floating-point functions.
Hardware Minimum Requirement
System NonStop S-series system. NonStop systems that run NonStop SQL/MX must
use HP NonStop S7200,
S72000,
or later processors that provide IEEE
floating-point support. In addition, these systems cannot be used because
they do not support the minimum memory requirement of 1 GB per processor:
S74, S7000, and S7400.
Disk Minimum 3 disks:
$SYSTEM disk
SQL objects disk
TMF audit disk
Recommended: Minimum 6 disks to include mirrors for the three disks listed
Disk space 500 MB of free space for root file set of OSS environment
A minimum of 800 MB for each processor swap file size (or twice physical
memory)
200 MB for the compressed and uncompressed .tar files of the NonStop
Server for Java
processor 2 processors
Memory per
 processor
A minimum 1 GB
*
per processor
*
As noted previously, the minimum memory requirement for production systems could be higher, depending on
the application workload.
