15 Thresholds and Threshold Alert
15-1 Thresholds
SST/OB provides the ability to create thresholds to define acceptable operational rules and threshold alert
templates to create thresholds in a specific format. Thresholds are conditions that can be applied on SST/OB
Views and if there is any violation, the configured actions will be performed.
The following actions can be triggered in case of a violation.
• Run a Command
• Send an Email
• Write to a Log
• Visual Indications
There are three types of thresholds available with SST/OB:
• Record Count Based (Number of records in a view): The number of records in a View is evaluated at
every poll and configured action is taken in case of a violation.
• Record Percent Based (Percentage of records in a view): The Terminal Sets are selected while creating
the Record Percent Based thresholds. The percentage of records in a view is calculated against a fixed
count. The percentage is calculated as: (Number of records in the view)/(Number of records in the
Terminal Set) * 100.0
• Cell Based (The value of one or more cells in a view): The SQL-based local views are selected while
creating Cell Based thresholds. The conditions are applied on the columns available in the view.
15-2 Creating New Thresholds
Perform the following steps to create thresholds:
1. Click on the Thresholds option in the Manage menu. This displays the Thresholds dialog box.
