Install the Replacement WAN BIC
Install the Replacement WAN BIC
1. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wriststrap from the antistatic mat and
connect it to an unpainted metal surface on the replacement WAN BIC.
2. Grasp the WAN BIC in one hand, support the bottom edge of the WAN BIC with
the other hand, carry the WAN BIC to the back of the SWAN 2 concentrator
enclosure, and set it down on an antistatic mat rightside up with the WAN BIC label
readable (see Figure 7-1).
3. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wriststrap from the replacement
WAN BIC and connect it to an unpainted metal surface on the back of the SWAN 2
concentrator rack.
4. Using two hands, line up the WAN BIC with the guides inside the WAN BIC slot.
5. Carefully push the WAN BIC all the way into its slot.
6. Tighten the thumbscrews to lock the WAN BIC into place. Do not overtighten the
thumbscrews.
7. Reconnect the interface converter cable to the WAN BIC.
Note. The WAN BIC weighs 1.3 pounds (0.59 kilograms)
