Gather the Proper Tools
You will need the following tools to replace a LAN BIC:
Determine the Physical Location of the LAN BIC
To determine the physical location of the LAN BIC to be replaced, use the OSM
Service Connection or TSM Service Application:
1. In the tree pane of the Management window, select the SWAN 2 concentrator
containing the LAN BIC to be replaced.
2. Click the Attributes tab in the details pane to determine the Track ID of that
SWAN 2 concentrator.
3. Physically locate the SWAN 2 concentrator that has this Track ID on the back
panel of its chassis (see Figure 1-4 on page 1-5).
4. LAN BICs are located on the back panel of the SWAN 2 concentrator, and each
LAN BIC is labeled (see the figure on the following page).

Unpack and Inspect the Replacement LAN BIC.

Install the Replacement LAN BIC.
5.
Verify the Installation of the Replacement LAN BIC
Note. Whenever you handle a LAN BIC, follow standard operating practices to avoid damage
to the equipment.
