Install the Replacement LAN BIC
Install the Replacement LAN BIC
1. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wriststrap from the antistatic mat and
connect it to an unpainted metal surface on the replacement LAN BIC.
2. Grasp the LAN BIC in one hand, support the bottom edge of the LAN BIC with the
other hand, carry the LAN BIC to the back of the SWAN 2 concentrator rack, and
set it down on an antistatic mat rightside up with its label readable.
3. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wriststrap from the replacement
LAN BIC and connect it to an unpainted metal surface on the back of the SWAN 2
concentrator rack.
4. Using two hands, line up the LAN BIC with the guides inside the LAN BIC slot.
5. Carefully push the LAN BIC all the way into the LAN BIC slot.
6. Tighten the thumbscrew to lock the LAN BIC into place. Do not overtighten the
thumbscrew.
7. Reconnect the Ethernet cable by plugging the RJ-45 connector into the RJ-45 jack
on the replacement LAN BIC.
8. Disconnect the grounding clip of your ESD wriststrap from the SWAN 2
concentrator rack.
Note. The LAN BIC weighs 0.5 pounds (0.23 kilograms)
