Replacing a Battery

Gather the Proper Tools

You will need the following tools to replace a battery:

Determine the Physical Location of the Battery

To determine the physical location of the battery to be replaced, use the OSM Service

Connection or the TSM Service Application:

1. In the tree pane of the Management window, select the SWAN 2 concentrator

containing the battery to be replaced.

2. Click the Attributes tab in the details pane to determine the Track ID of that

SWAN 2 concentrator.

3. Physically locate the SWAN 2 concentrator that has this Track ID on the back

panel of its chassis (see Figure 1-4 on page 1-5).

4. The battery is located on the back panel of the SWAN 2 concentrator (see

Figure 1-2 on page 1-4).

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection kit Protect electronic components against

damage caused by electrostatic discharge

Utility knife Cut packing tape

Step Description

Review Standard Operating Practices.

Remove the Battery.

Unpack and Inspect the Replacement Battery.

Install the Replacement Battery.

Clear the Alarm and Verify the Installation of the Replacement Battery.

Note. Whenever you handle a battery, follow standard operating practices to avoid damage to

the equipment.
