Protocols and Line Speeds
A SWAN 2 concentrator can support various line speeds based on the protocol being
used. For detailed information about supported protocols and line speeds, see the
WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management Manual.
Connecting Multiple SWAN 2 Concentrators
You can connect multiple SWAN 2 concentrators by connecting an Ethernet controller
through any 10-megabit hub or 100-megabit hub or switch.
A router can be used to connect SWAN 2 concentrators; using a router requires
additional configuration. Refer to the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management
Manual for further information.
Configuring Multiple SWAN 2 Concentrators
The number of SWAN 2 concentrators that can be configured depends on the number
of configuration entities specific to your configuration and whether you are using one or
two lines on a CLIP.
If two lines are configured on each CLIP, you can configure a maximum of 300
SWAN 2 concentrators. If only one line is configured on each CLIP, you can configure
a maximum of 600 SWAN 2 concentrators.
The default memory allocation of WANMGR allows configuration of approximately 350
SWAN 2 concentrators. To allocate more memory, use the STARTUPMSG attribute of
the WANMGR startup configuration (see Example 1-1).
