Plan Your Installation
When planning your installation:
•
Determine whether you need additional levels of power line protection to ensure
proper operation of the SWAN 2 concentrator. A SWAN 2 concentrator installed in
a Computer Room Power Center (CRPC) has a high tolerance against the effects
of a transient high-energy power line surge; however, a concentrator installed
outside of a CRPC might be at risk for higher surge events.
•
The SWAN 2 concentrator must be installed in a 19-inch Electronic Industry
Association (EIA) rack or metric rack. HP recommends using a rack with a depth of
30 or 36 inches; a rack with a 24-inch depth will work, but the rear door cannot be
closed.
•
The AC power cord on the SWAN 2 concentrator is approximately 6 feet long, so
the SWAN 2 concentrator must be installed within 6 feet of a power source.
•
Plan your cable management before installing a SWAN 2 concentrator, especially if
you are installing more than one SWAN 2 concentrator, because:

Two methods exist for installing a cable mounting bracket. The method you
use depends on whether your rack’s depth is 24 inches or 30 inches or greater.
°
The SWAN 2 concentrator components, especially the fans, require 7.5 inches
of clearance for servicing. Leave 7.5 inches of room between any installed
cable management wireforms or D-rings and the components.
°
For every two SWAN 2 concentrators you plan to install, plan on installing one
cable management kit to secure the cables.
