Replacing a Communications Line
Interface Processor (CLIP)
Description of a CLIP
The CLIP contains the internal LAN logic and WAN logic, communications controller,
random-access memory (RAM), flash memory, and all the intelligence for the SWAN 2
concentrator. Six CLIPs are located in the front panel of a SWAN 2 concentrator.
Service Class
For the service class of a CLIP, refer to Component Service Classes on page 5-1.
Note. A CLIP is also known as a WAN logic board (LB).
