6. No user intervention is required, as the device switches to the other processor and
performs the start line request on that processors CONMGR process. This helps
achieve optimum performance.
Example 1
•
The preferred and alternate TCP/IP process is running on CPU 1.
•
The device is configured on CPU 0 (Primary) and 1 (Backup)
•
Initially, the device requests ConMgr on CPU 0 to start the LINE. ConMgr on CPU
0 returns an "Ownership" error since both the TCP/IP processes are running on
CPU 1.
•
The device switches the CPU and requests ConMgr on CPU 1 to start the line.
This time it succeeds on any path (as both TCP/IP paths are running on CPU 1).
This will help achieve optimum performance.
Example 2
•
The preferred TCP/IP is running on CPU 0 and the alternate TCP/IP is running on
CPU 1.
•
The DEVICE is configured on CPU 0 (Primary) and CPU 1(Backup).
•
Initially, the device requests the ConMgr process on CPU 0 to start the line. The
ConMgr process on CPU 0 initiates to start the line, as the preferred TCP/IP
process is on CPU 0. Assuming that this path has physical path errors, the start
line request fails on this line.
•
Subsequently, the ConMgr process on CPU 0 retries on the alternate path
returning an "Ownership" error since the alternate TCP/IP process is on CPU 1
and the backup CPU of device is CPU 1.
•
The DEVICE switches the CPU and requests ConMgr on CPU 1 to start the line.
This time it succeeds using the alternate path, achieving optimum performance.
This EMS message is displayed by the ConMgr process when a started line indicates
an “Ownership” error.
This example shows a ConMgr process indicating an Ownership error (G06.06 and
previous RVUs).
