Configuring the Correct Track-ID
Configuring the Correct Track-ID
If the track-ID is incorrectly configured:
1. The SWAN CLIPs (after powered on) send BOOTP requests and continue to send
BOOTP requests until it receives a BOOTP reply from the host.
2. The SWAN CLIP sends its track-ID in the BOOTP request. The WANBoot process
checks the BOOTP packet for the track-ID and matches it with the adapters
configured. If no adapters match the track-ID received, no BOOTP response is
sent.
3. If a BOOTP reply is not sent to the SWAN CLIP, the CLIP remains inaccessible to
the system.
4. Ensure that you have specified the correct track-ID while configuring the adapter.
For more information on how to display the track-ID, see Verifying the SWAN
Concentrator Track-ID on page 4-13
5. When the track-ID has been incorrectly configured, the SWAN CLIPs sends the
BOOTP request continuously. The WANBoot process checks BOOTP requests
(which have not been configured) and issues a BOOTP EMS message with the
track-ID of the BOOTP request, indicating an unanswered BOOTP request.
(Applicable only to G06.07 and later RVUs)
This example shows the EMS message that is issued on the 16th occurrence of the
BOOTP request. (G06.07 and later RVUs).
