Compaq TSM package
Compaq TSM package. A software product for NonStop S-series servers that provides the
information needed to perform functions such as querying resources and testing,
provides notification of problems on the system, and allows local or remote access to
the system for service and maintenance. TSM performs the same role as that of
TMDS, Syshealth, and Remote Maintenance Interface (RMI) on earlier systems.
communications line interface processor (CLIP). The major programmable device within
the SWAN concentrator, providing link-level protocol and a software interface to the
server. The CLIP stores and implements specific communications protocols. A SWAN
concentrator (T3880) has three CLIPs and a SWAN 2 concentrator (T3881) has six
CLIPs. Each CLIP contains a microprocessor chip. Each CLIP interfaces to both
Ethernet ports (A and B) and has two WAN ports.
concentrator. See Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
concentrator manager (ConMgr) process. See ConMgr process.
CONFIG file. On G-series RVUs, the current system configuration database file, which is
stored on the $SYSTEM.ZSYSCONF subvolume. See also configuration file.
configuration file. On G-series RVUs, any of the following files used for determining the
system configuration: CONFBASE, CONFIG, CONFxxyy, CONFSAVE. See also
system configuration database.
ConMgr process. The concentrator manager (ConMgr) process is provided as part of the
WAN subsystem. The ConMgr process runs in each system processor that supports
WAN DEVICE objects and provides management functions to the WAN subsystem and
the IOPs. These functions include downloading data link control (DLC) tasks to the
CLIPs on a SWAN concentrator and selecting the preferred path for the DLC tasks.
See also WAN subsystem SCF interface, Simple Network Management Protocol
(SNMP), data link control (DLC) task, path, and communications line interface
processor (CLIP).
CP6100 subsystem. When combined with a user-written communications application,
CP6100 passes application data to a protocol module running in the communications
line interface processor (CLIP) on a SWAN concentrator, enabling the application not
only to transfer data but also to initiate protocol sequences and control error recovery.
CP6100 is commonly used for custom device support.
CPU. 1) Deprecated term for processor. 2) SCF attribute that refers to the processor in
which an object is configured to run.
data circuit-terminating equipment (DCE). A modem to which the SWAN 2 concentrator
connects. The SWAN 2 concentrator is a data terminal equipment (DTE). See also
data terminal equipment (DTE) and modem.
