full-duplex
full-duplex. Transmission permitted in both directions at the same time over a data
communications line. See also half-duplex.
G4SA. See Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet Adapter (GESA).
GESA. See Gigabit Ethernet 4-Port ServerNet Adapter (G4SA).
Gigabit Ethernet 4-Port ServerNet Adapter (G4SA). A multiport ServerNet adapter that
provides 1000 megabits/second (Mbps) data transfer rates between HP NonStop™
S-series systems and Ethernet LANs. The G4SA is the only LAN adapter supported for
the I/O adapter module (IOAM) enclosure, and it is installed in slots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of
an IOAM. Although the G4SA supersedes the Ethernet 4 ServerNet adapter (E4SA),
Fast Ethernet ServerNet adapter (FESA), and the Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet adapter
(GESA), it cannot be installed in an HP NonStop™ S-series enclosure.
Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet Adapter (GESA). The GESA supports one Ethernet
connection and communicates with multiple processors through its dual ServerNet
interfaces to the ServerNet fabrics. The adapter exists in copper and fiber versions.
The copper version allows switchable or negotiated speeds; the fiber operates only at
1000 megabits/second (Mbps).
HP NonStop TCP/IP subsystem. HP NonStop TCP/IP lets you use the NonStop S-series
server from Macintosh, PC, and UNIX workstations. Cooperative applications can
partition function so as to use the strengths of the different operating systems.
Applications running on a NonStop system or on an Expand network can transparently
exchange data with TCP/IP devices.
half-duplex. Transmission permitted in one direction at a time over a data communications
line. See also full-duplex.
hardware. All the physical components of a computer system or a peripheral device.
Input/Output Adapter Module (IOAM). A product that allows the HP NonStop S-series
server to communicate with fiber-channel or Ethernet products. The IOAM is a
rack-mountable enclosure that contains two ServerNet Switch Boards and up to
5 Fibre-Channel ServerNet adapters (FCSAs) or Gigabit Ethernet 4-Port ServerNet
adapters (G4SAs). Up to 5 G4SAs, FCSAs, or any combination can be added per
IOAM, for a total of 10 adapters per IOAM enclosure. There are two IOAMs per IOAM
enclosure.
input/output process (IOP). A privileged process, residing in a NonStop system processor,
that provides an application program interface (API) that allows you to access an
input/output (I/O) interface. A WAN LINE is an I/O interface. Running program (part of
the operating system) that manages the input and output functions for the SWAN
concentrator.
interface converter cable. A cable that is connected to a wide area network (WAN) port on
the SWAN or SWAN 2 concentrator and supports one of the supported electrical
interfaces (RS-232, RS-449, X.21, and V.35). One end of each interface converter
