SEB
SEB. See ServerNet expansion board (SEB).
secondary path. See path.
serial communications controller (SCC). Each microprocessor chip on the SWAN
concentrator has four SCCs to handle two Ethernet ports and the two WAN ports. See
also ServerNet wide area network (SWAN) concentrator and ServerNet wide area
network (SWAN) 2 concentrator.
SERVER object. A configurable object within the WAN subsystem SCF interface that
represents one CLIP on a SWAN concentrator (ADAPTER object). See also
communications line interface processor (CLIP), ServerNet wide area network (SWAN)
concentrator, and ServerNet wide area network (SWAN) 2 concentrator.
ServerNet expansion board (SEB). (1) A connector board that plugs in to the backplane to
allow one or more ServerNet cables to exit the rear of the enclosure. The SEBs and
ServerNet cables allow processors in one group to communicate with processors in
another group. Each SEB provides either the ServerNet X fabric or the ServerNet Y
fabric for a group. (2) A collective term for both SEBs and modular SEBs (MSEBs)
when a distinction between the two types of SEBs is not required.
ServerNet wide area network (SWAN) concentrator. (1) An HP data communications
peripheral that provides connectivity to a NonStop S-series server. The SWAN
concentrator supports both synchronous and asynchronous data over RS-232,
RS-449, X.21, and V.35 electrical and physical interfaces. (2) A collective term for both
SWAN concentrators and SWAN 2 concentrators when a distinction between the two is
not required.
ServerNet wide area network (SWAN) 2 concentrator. An HP data communications
peripheral that provides connectivity to a NonStop S-series server. The SWAN 2
concentrator supports both synchronous and asynchronous data over RS-232,
RS-449, X.21, and V.35 electrical and physical interfaces. The SWAN 2 concentrator is
the next-generation SWAN concentrator and has 12 WAN ports.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). A collection of specifications for network
management that includes a message protocol, the definition of the structure and
format of management information, and associated concepts. Designed to operate with
TCP/IP. See also SNMP trap multiplexer process.
SNAX/XF subsystem. SNAX/XF enables SNA hosts and devices to communicate and
share applications with NonStop systems. Application programs using SNAX/XF can
participate in an SNA environment while taking advantage of HP product features such
as high data integrity, continuous availability, and modular expandability.
SNMP agent. One Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) agent runs in the SWAN
concentrator. The SNMP agent is used to get and set the values of the SWAN
concentrator objects defined by the management information base (MIB).
