SNMP trap multiplexer process
SNMP trap multiplexer process. SWAN concentrator Event Management Service (EMS)
events are initially issued by the SWAN concentrator as Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) traps. The SNMP trap multiplexer process accepts trap datagrams
from the SNMP trap task on the SWAN concentrator and converts the traps to EMS
events for management by EMS. The WAN subsystem trap multiplexer is provided as
part of the WAN subsystem SNMP support. See also Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP).
SUBSYS object. A configurable object within the WAN subsystem SCF interface that
represents the WAN manager process. See also WAN manager process.
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF). An interactive interface for configuring, controlling, and
collecting information from a subsystem and its objects. SCF enables you to configure
and reconfigure devices, processes, and some system variables while your HP
NonStop S-series server is online.
Subsystem Control Point (SCP). The message router for the Subsystem Control Facility
(SCF). There can be several instances of this process. Using the Subsystem
Programmatic Interface (SPI), applications send each command for a subsystem to an
instance of the SCP process, which, in turn, sends the command to the manager
process of the target subsystem. SCP also processes a few commands itself. It
provides security features, version compatibility, support for tracing, and support for
applications implemented as process pairs.
synchronous. A mode of transmission in which characters are accumulated in a buffer at
the sending terminal and sent as a block of data. Synchronous transmission normally
uses external clocking provided by a synchronous modem. The clocking scheme
assumes that once transmission starts, characters will arrive in a block at a
predetermined speed.
system configuration database. An Enscribe-indexed database file on the
$SYSTEM.ZSYSCONF subvolume that contains configuration information for
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) subsystem objects. See also configuration file
.
TASK object. A configurable object within the WAN subsystem SCF interface that
represents a data link control (DLC) task.
TCP/IP. TCP/IP is the name applied to the combined protocol layers that are defined by
RFC 793 and 791. See also HP NonStop TCP/IP subsystem
.
TFTP. The Trivial File Transfer Protocol defined by RFC 1350. TFTP is used as part of the
WAN subsystem to download DLC and diagnostic tasks. See also data link control
(DLC) task.
trap multiplexer. See Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
V.35. CCITT standard for specifying the electrical characteristics using a high-speed
transmission rate of 48 to 50 Kilobits per second (Kbps) between a computer and a
public telephone system that employs analog signaling.
