Preparing a SWAN CLIP for the OSM or TSM
Test Verify Test Action or Firmware Update
The OSM or TSM Test Verify and Firmware Update actions require that you stop the
SWAN concentrator's communications line interface processor (CLIP) and any active
communications lines using the CLIP. This page explains how to prepare a CLIP
before executing the Test Verify test action or Firmware Update and how to resume
CLIP operation after the test action or update have been performed.
Preparing a CLIP
Perform these steps to prepare a CLIP for the OSM or TSM Test Verify test action or
Firmware Update:
1. Stop active customer applications that use the WAN LINEs on the CLIP.
2. Stop or abort active communications lines that use the WAN LINEs on the CLIP:
ABORT LINE $LINE1
If you do not know the names of the communications lines that are configured for
the CLIP, use the SCF STATUS ADAPTER command with the SUB ALL option to
identify them:
STATUS ADAPTER $ZZWAN.#adapter-name, SUB ALL
Determining the WAN Subsystem IOPs That Use a SWAN Concentrator on
page A-3 shows the output of this command and explains how to interpret it.
3. Stop the SERVER object for the CLIP by using the SCF ABORT SERVER
command:
ABORT SERVER $ZZWAN.adapter.clip-num
Resuming Operation on a CLIP
Perform these steps to resume operation on a CLIP:
1. Restart the SERVER object for the CLIP by using the SCF START SERVER
command:
START SERVER $ZZWAN.adapter.clip
2. Restart any stopped communications line. For example:
START LINE $LINE1
3. Resume customer applications.
Note. Many Event Message Service (EMS) events are generated if communications lines
are not stopped before a CLIP is stopped.
