SWAN Concentrator Connections
SWAN Concentrator Connections
SWAN concentrator connections provide redundant ServerNet X and Y fabrics to the
Ethernet adapters. If one ServerNet fabric fails, the Ethernet adapter can still be
accessed using the remaining ServerNet fabric.
HP recommends configuring a SWAN concentrator to connect to the Ethernet ports on
two E4SAs, FESAs, GESAs, or G4SAs. Connecting to two adapters provides more
fault-tolerance for the IOPs that use the lines on the SWAN concentrator.
SWAN concentrators connections include:
Integrity NonStop BladeSystem connection
Integrity NonStop NS-series system connection
NonStop S-series system connection
NonStop S-series I/O enclosure connection to Integrity NonStop NS-series system
Integrity NonStop BladeSystem Connection
The SWAN concentrator connects to an Integrity NonStop BladeSystem using
fault-tolerant, 10 Base-T connections provided by the Gigabit Ethernet 4-port
ServerNet adapters (G4SAs) installed in the IOAM enclosure of a c7000 BladeSystem
enclosure. G4SAs, CCSAs, and TRSAs are the only ServerNet adapters that can
connect to a BladeSystem. For more information, see the NonStop Networking
Overview or the NonStop BladeSystem Planning Guide.
Integrity NonStop NS-Series Connection
The SWAN concentrator connects to an Integrity NonStop NS-series system using
fault-tolerant, 10 Base-T connections provided by one or two Gigabit Ethernet 4-port
ServerNet adapters (G4SAs).
NonStop S-Series Connection
The SWAN concentrator connects to the NonStop S-series system using fault-tolerant,
10 Base-T Ethernet connections provided by one or two Ethernet 4 ServerNet adapters
(E4SAs), Fast Ethernet ServerNet adapters (FESAs), Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet
adapters (GESAs), or G4SAs.
NonStop S-Series I/O Enclosure Attached to Integrity
Nonstop NS-Series Server Connection
The SWAN concentrator connects to a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure via the I/O
multifunction 2 (IOMF 2) components installed in the NonStop S-series enclosure to
access the NonStop NS-series system’s processor-switch (p-switch). For more
Note. G4SAs can only be installed in an I/O Adapter Module (IOAM) enclosure.
