SWAN Concentrator Configuration Limits
information about this configuration, see the Introduction to Networking for HP Integrity
NonStop NS-Series Servers or the NonStop NS-Series Planning Guide.
SWAN Concentrator Configuration Limits
As of the G06.07 release, the previous limit of 100 SWAN concentrators on each
system no longer applies. Now, a maximum of 3600 concentrators (of any entity type)
can be configured through the SCF interface. Since there are usually more devices
(lines), the limit is 3600 lines.
For example, if all three CLIPs are configured for each SWAN concentrator, you can
configure a maximum of 1200 SWAN concentrators. But if only one CLIP is configured
for each SWAN concentrator, you can configure a maximum of 3600 SWAN
concentrators.
The number of SWAN concentrators that can be configured also depends on the
amount of memory available to WANMGR. The default memory allocation allows
configuration of approximately 350 SWAN concentrators, so the values described
above cannot be achieved without allocating more memory to WANMGR by changing
the startup parameter DATAPAGES.
You can allocate more memory using the STARTUPMSG attribute of the WANMGR
startup configuration as follows:
> SCF
- ABORT PROCESS $ZZKRN.#ZZWAN
- ALTER PROCESS $ZZKRN.#ZZWAN, &
STARTUPMSG "<BKUP-CPU>; datapages 8192"
- START PROCESS $ZZKRN.#ZZWAN
- EXIT
Specifying 8192 datapages provides 8MB memory to WANMGR which allows you to
configure approximately 750 to 800 SWAN concentrators.
Ethernet Ports on the SWAN Concentrator
Figure 1-2 shows how the SWAN concentrator Ethernet ports connect to the G4SAs
located in the IOAM enclosure of an Integrity NonStop NS-series system. Similarly, a
SWAN concentrator can also connect to a NonStop BladeSystem via a G4SA in the
IOAM enclosure. For more information about the NonStop BladeSystem, refer to the
NonStop BladeSystem Planning Guide.
