Ethernet Ports on the SWAN Concentrator
Figure 1-3 shows how the SWAN concentrator connects to the Ethernet ports on the
NonStop S-series system. A SWAN concentrator can also connect to a LAN adapter
(such as the E4SA) that is installed in a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure and which
connects to an Integrity NonStop NS-series system, as long as the NonStop S-series
I/O enclosure has IOMF 2 components installed.
The Ethernet clouds shown in Figure 1-3 represent network devices, such as Ethernet
switches, that transport frames between the SWAN concentrator and the
NonStop S-series system. Network devices can include non-Ethernet LANs, such as
token-ring LANs. The WAN subsystem currently supports private or local Ethernet
segments only.
