Preparing to Install a SWAN Concentrator

The SWAN concentrator can be installed on a desk or table top or in a 19-inch EIA or

metric rack using the rack-mounting brackets. The power cord on the SWAN

concentrator is approximately six feet long, so the SWAN concentrator should be

installed within six feet of the power source.

Table 2-1 lists model numbers for the SWAN concentrator, interface converter cables,

and the loopback connector. To view part numbers, from the home page of the

NonStop Technical Library (NTL), select

HP Integrity NonStop Service Information > Service Information > Part Numbers

for NonStop Servers

Installing a Preconfigured SWAN Concentrator

All SWAN concentrators ordered with a NonStop system are configured for you by HP

manufacturing.

Before you install a SWAN concentrator that has already been added to the software

configuration by HP manufacturing, you should verify that it has been configured with the

correct configuration track-ID. The configuration track-ID configured for your SWAN

concentrator by HP manufacturing must match the actual configuration track-ID on the rear

panel of the SWAN concentrator.

Verifying the configuration track-ID is described in the WAN Subsystem Configuration and

Management Manual.

Note. The SWAN concentrator should be installed only after you have completed your

software configuration as described in the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management

Manual.

Note. When ordering SWAN adapter cables from HP, the gender of the cable is female.
