Step 2: Mounting the SWAN Concentrator
Mounting the SWAN Concentrator Into a 19-Inch Standard
EIA Rack
Installing the SWAN concentrator into a 19-inch rack requires at least two people. One
person is required to support the unit inside the rack while the other fastens the rack
mounting brackets. Figure 2-3 shows the SWAN concentrator installed in a 19-inch EIA
rack. The SWAN concentrator is one and one-half units tall.
Use the following procedure to install the SWAN concentrator into an EIA rack:
1. One person lifts the SWAN concentrator into position in the 19-inch rack. Raise or
lower the housing until the rack-mounting bracket holes align with the rack holes at
the desired installation height.
2. The second person installs two screws in each mounting bracket and tightens
them securely. Note that the EIA rack mounting bracket has four mounting holes;
however, only two holes are used. To mount several SWAN concentrators as
closely as possible, note the detail shown in Figure 2-3
for proper alignment of the
SWAN concentrators with the spacing of the slots on the EIA bracket.
