Step 3: Connecting the Ethernet Cables
Step 3: Connecting the Ethernet Cables
The front panel of the SWAN concentrator contains two RJ-45, 10Base-T, twisted-pair
Ethernet ports, which are used to connect the SWAN concentrator to an Integrity
NonStop BladeSystem, Integrity NonStop NS-series, or NonStop S-series system.
For the NonStop BladeSystems, Ethernet connections can be made directly to
G4SAs or indirectly through Ethernet switches or routers.
For the NonStop NS-series, Ethernet connections can be made directly to G4SAs
or indirectly through Ethernet switches or routers.
For the NonStop S-series, Ethernet connections can be made directly to E4SAs,
FESAs, GESAs, or G4SAs installed in an I/O adapter module (IOAM) enclosure or
indirectly through Ethernet switches or routers.
A direct connection to a LAN adapter is described in Connecting the Ethernet Cables
Directly to the LAN Adapters on page 2-14. Indirect connection to Ethernet switches or
routers is described in Connect the SWAN Concentrators to LAN Adapters Using an
Ethernet Switch or Router on page 2-14.
Figure 2-6 shows Ethernet ports A and B on the front panel of the SWAN concentrator.
Make sure that the Ethernet cables connected to Ethernet ports A and B on a SWAN
concentrator are connected to the correct ports on the adapters as shown in the
illustrations on the following pages.
If you ordered your SWAN concentrator with a NonStop BladeSystem, NonStop
NS-series or NonStop S-series system, the adapters and the adapter ports used to
connect the SWAN concentrator are preconfigured by HP manufacturing.
