Step 4: Connecting the Interface Converter Cables
to the WAN Ports
This figure shows two SWAN concentrators (#S01 and #S02) connected to port A on
G4SA G11123 and to port A on G4SA G11124 using Ethernet switches 3 and 4, which
are cascaded off Ethernet switches 1 and 2. The SWAN concentrator can have a
maximum of four Ethernet switches between itself and the NonStop system.
Step 4: Connecting the Interface Converter Cables to the WAN
Ports
Each of the 50-pin WAN port connectors supports the RS-232, RS-449, X.21, and V.35
electrical interfaces, but none physically matches any of the connectors used for these
interfaces. Use an interface converter cable to convert from the 50-pin connector to a
connector that matches the chosen interface. The interface converter cables are 10
feet (3.3 meters) long. There are four different interface converter cables, each one
supporting a different interface.
