Executing the Power-On Self-Test (POST)
LINK Green There are two link LEDs, one for each Ethernet port. The link
LEDs are
On when the SWAN concentrator is receiving link-integrity
pulses from the remote port. You should check the remote
port for link integrity if the remote port is able to display it.
Off when there is no link integrity between the SWAN
concentrator Ethernet port and the remote Ethernet port.
Link integrity means that the SWAN concentrator is receiving
link-integrity pulses from the remote Ethernet port. It does not
indicate that the remote end is receiving link-integrity pulses from
the SWAN concentrator. You should verify link integrity at both the
local and remote Ethernet ports.
If an Ethernet port does not have link integrity, data cannot be
transferred on that port.
Loss of link integrity can be caused by a bad cable, among other
factors.
Determining a bad cable or a bad port involves standard
networking troubleshooting techniques, such as replacing the
suspected bad cable with a known good cable or changing cable
connections between various endpoints to isolate the location of
the failure.
COL
(collision)
Green There are two collision LEDs, one for each Ethernet port. The
collision LEDs are
Flashing when a collision occurs between the SWAN
concentrator and another station on the same Ethernet
collision domain.
Off when there are no collisions between the SWAN
concentrator and another station on the same Ethernet
collision domain.
Collisions are a normal and expected part of Ethernet operation.
They are only a problem when they reach an excessive level.
Determining what is an excessive number of collisions is specific
to each site. You cannot tell what is excessive by the indicator
alone. The collision LED flashes at either 0, 2.5, 5, or 10 Hz,
depending on the rate of collisions.
