Removing a SWAN Concentrator
Removing a SWAN Concentrator
1. Identify the correct SWAN concentrator to remove.
2. Obtain the following tools to remove the SWAN concentrator:
3. Shut down the WAN lines on the SWAN concentrator using the appropriate data
communications subsystem ABORT LINE command. Example 2-3 shows how to
shut down an X25AM subsystem communications line using the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF) ABORT LINE command.
4. Stop the SWAN concentrator. In Example 2-4, the SCF STOP ADAPTER
command with the SUB ALL option stops the subordinate objects.
5. Locate the power cord of the SWAN concentrator. Check that the power switch is
set to the 0 (OFF) position. Power off the SWAN concentrator.
6. Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the lock-down screws on the interface-
converter cables. Disconnect each interface-converter cable from the WAN ports
on the front of the SWAN concentrator. (You can leave your cables connected to
the interface-converter cables.) You may also want to label the cables if they are
not already labeled.
7. Disconnect the Ethernet cables from the Ethernet ports on the front of the SWAN
concentrator.
8. Unplug the power cord from its AC outlet.
