Replacing a SWAN Concentrator
1. Identify the correct SWAN concentrator to replace.
2. Obtain the following tools to remove the old SWAN concentrator and to unpack and
install the replacement SWAN concentrator:
3. Unpack the replacement SWAN concentrator as described in Step 1: Unpacking
and Inspecting the Shipping Container on page 2-3.
4. Record the configuration track-ID and the six MAC addresses from the rear of the
replacement SWAN concentrator on the SWAN Concentrator Configuration
Planning Form provided in the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management
Manual.
5. Shut down the WAN lines on the old SWAN concentrator you plan to replace using
the appropriate data communications subsystem ABORT LINE command.
Example 2-3 shows how to shut down an X25AM subsystem communications line
using the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) ABORT LINE command.
6. Stop the old SWAN concentrator. In Example 2-4, the SCF STOP ADAPTER
command with the SUB ALL option stops the subordinate objects.
7. Reconfigure the WAN subsystem software with the configuration track-ID of the
replacement SWAN concentrator using the SCF ALTER ADAPTER command as
described in the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management Manual.
Example 2-5 shows how to alter the configuration track-ID on the SWAN
concentrator named $ZZWAN.#S01.
