Input Files for SYSGENR
The following files are input files to SYSGENR:
•
SUT files
•
The configuration file, by convention called the CONFTEXT file
•
The auxiliary configuration file, by convention called the CONFAUX file
•
Files copied from a previous system
•
Accelerated user-created object files
SUT Files
The site update tape (SUT) for your system contains the software files necessary to
update and create a new operating system files. These files are distributed by HP,
along with a hard-copy listing of them. DSM/SCM places the SUT files into the
DSM/SCM archive on your system, then SYSGENR uses them to create your new
operating system files.
SUTs contain distribution subvolumes, or DSVs (site-specific files). DSVs contain a
collection of programs and documentation files associated with a software product.
Each software product has its own DSV.
The tape media used for the SUT depends on your system requirements.
CONFTEXT File
The CONFTEXT file is an EDIT-format (file code 101) configuration file that contains
entries defining the operating system image for all processors in the system. Within
this file, entries are organized into paragraphs: the DEFINES paragraph (optional) and
the ALLPROCESSORS paragraph. Such files as EMS template files and files to copy
to the new system are specified in the CONFTEXT file. Information on how to edit the
CONFTEXT file is in Section 2, Contents of the CONFTEXT File.
