Assigning a Tape Drive
Assigning a Tape Drive
You can use an ASSIGN command to specify the tape drive that SYSGENR uses to
create a system image tape (SIT). As a result, SYSGENR does not prompt you for
the tape drive name; it writes to the tape drive you have specified in the ASSIGN
command. The syntax is shown here.
[\system.]$tape
is the physical system and file name of the tape drive you want SYSGENR to use.
Example
The following example assigns the name of the tape drive to be $TAPE01 on the local
system:
ASSIGN SYSGEN^TAPE, $TAPE01
Assigning SYSGENR Program Names
SYSGENR uses several programs that it expects to find on $SYSTEM.SYSTEM.
However, you can use an ASSIGN command to specify a different program file
location. The syntax is shown below.
SYSGEN^progname
is the program file name used by SYSGENR for the following programs:
[[[\system.]$volume.]subvolume.]newfilename
is the physical system, volume, subvolume, and file name of the program file you
want SYSGENR to use. If you supply a partial file name, SYSGENR expands the
file name using the default information in the RUN SYSGENR command.
