Tandem Logon Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR) Manual
Tandem Logon Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR) Manual—127335 vii
About This Manual
This manual describes the Tandem Logon Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR), a
Tandem software product running on IBM host systems. The ILOGMGR allows users of
IBM 3270-type terminals in an SNA network to access applications running on a
Tandem system. The ILOGMGR also allows a SNAX Application Logical Unit
(SNALU) on a Tandem system to access applications located on an IBM host.
This facility requires interaction of the following software components:
•
Tandem Logon Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR) running on an IBM host
•
SNAX/APN logon manager (TLOGMGR) running on the Tandem system
•
SNAX Creator-2 process running on the Tandem system
How This Manual Is Organized
This manual is written for system and network managers and those responsible for
configuring the ILOGMGR for use in XLF. The manual is organized as follows:
•
Section 1, “Introduction to the ILOGMGR,” gives an overview of how the
ILOGMGR functions in the context of the XLF.
•
Section 2, “Installing the ILOGMGR,” explains how to install the ILOGMGR from
the SNAX/APN release subvolume to the IBM system and how to use JCL
procedures to run the ILOGMGR after it is installed.
•
Section 3, “Configuring for the ILOGMGR,” explains and gives examples of
VTAM, NCP, and control file configurations, as well as examples showing how to
configure your environment for ILOGMGR when you are using Token-Ring. The
material describing control files includes syntax information for control file records,
comment fields, and comment records. Information regarding the use of multiple
ILOGMGRs, TLOGMGRs, and SNAX/APN lines also is available in this section.
•
Section 4, “Operating the ILOGMGR,” explains how to control the TLOGMGR
through the IBM system, including methods for starting, stopping, and issuing new
bind requests to the TLOGMGR in the event a session is interrupted.
•
Section 5, “Reporting Problems,” explains the information required when a problem
is reported to either the IBM Data Center or Tandem support personnel and how you
obtain that information.
•
Appendix A, “Error Messages and Sense Codes,” gives a listing of the ILOGMGR
error and information codes and the cause, effect, and recovery associated with each.
The relevant SNA sense codes also are included in this section.
•
Appendix B, “Logical Flows and Internal Formats,” provides information about the
communication that takes place between the TLOGMGR, ILOGMGR, VTAM, and
terminal.
The manual also includes a glossary and an index, which are located following
Appendix B, “Logical Flows and Internal Formats.”
