Operational Notes
•
ADD is a sensitive command.
•
When the ADD command is successfully completed, the subnet or route is placed
in the STOPPED summary state.
•
The name given to a subnet or route must be unique for the process.
•
You can add a maximum of 13 subnets (4 Ethernet, 4 SNAP, 4 X.25, and
1 loopback) to a process. The number of routes depends on available resources.
•
To create a TCP/IP process, use the RUN command.
•
The SLSA subsystem must be operational for the ADD command to complete
successfully. For more information, see the LAN Configuration and Management
Manual.
•
The TCP/IP X.25 interface can open a maximum of 32 subdevices (named
#TCPIP1 through #TCPIP32) on a specified X25AM device (line). Note that the
specified X25AM device must be active, and the subdevices must be added and in
the STARTED summary state before adding the X.25 subnet. For information on
the methods of adding and starting X.25 subdevices, see the X25AM Configuration
and Management Manual or the System Generation Manual for G-series RVUs.
•
To start subnets or routes, use the START command.
ALTER Command
The ALTER command changes attribute values associated with the specified object.
You can change attributes for a process and a subnet, but not for a route.
The specified object must be in the STOPPED summary state before the ALTER
command is issued. Object-name templates do not apply to this command.
Note. For information on NonStop availability considerations, see the TCP/IP Configuration
and Management Manual.
