Procedures for Migrating
Applications to Parallel Library
TCP/IP
This section lists, at a high level, the steps for migrating your applications to Parallel
Library TCP/IP to familiarize you with the process. This section does not provide
complete instructions; use the TCP/IP (Parallel Library) Configuration and
Management Manual for subsystem configuration procedures.
Tasks for Starting Parallel Library TCP/IP
1. Before starting Parallel Library TCP/IP, save the system configuration database.
2. Start the Parallel Library TCP/IP either by using the persistence manager, by using
TACL commands, or by executing a startup command file.
Tasks for Migrating Your Environment
To migrate to an existing IP address from conventional TCP/IP to Parallel Library
TCP/IP, follow these steps:
1. Identify the IP address you want to use. Avoid migrating the IP address running
your home terminal.
a. Enter WHO at the TACL prompt:
b. Note the TELSERV process name associated with the Home Terminal.
(Just the portion following the dollar sign ($)).
Note. As of G06.14, you can install new Parallel Library TCP/IP SPRs on a processor-by-
processor basis, without taking down any of the processors. For information about this
procedure, see the TCP/IP (Parallel Library) Configuration and Management Manual.
Note. When planning to migrate to Parallel Library TCP/IP, ensure that any firewall products
that you use support gratuitous ARP packets.
