TCP/IP TELNET Management Programming Manual

Preface
x 53474 Tandem Computers Incorporated
Section 6 describes the TELNET subsystem programmatic commands and
responses. Each description includes the syntax, object types, command tokens,
response tokens, and operational notes associated with the command.
Section 7 describes event management for applications communicating with the
TELNET subsystem. This section contains information on how to obtain event
messages reported by the subsystem, a description of each event message that can
be issued by the subsystem, and examples of filters that can be used by a
management application.
Appendix A describes the error numbers and associated error lists that are defined
by the TELNET subsystem.
Appendix B contains a listing of the TELNET subsystem-specific Data Definition
Language (DDL) file. It is included as a quick reference to the TELNET-specific
definitions.
To most effectively use this manual, you should be familiar with Tandem system
architecture and DSM, have a basic knowledge of the DDL, and have a working
knowledge of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) family of
protocols, including the TELNET protocol and the language in which you are working:
C, TAL, COBOL85, or TACL. Therefore, before using this manual, you should be
familiar with the material covered in the following Tandem manuals:
Introduction to Distributed Systems Management (DSM)
Distributed Systems Management (DSM) Programming Manual
Communications Management Programming Manual
Event Management Service (EMS) Manual
Data Definition Language (DDL) Reference Manual
Tandem TCP/IP Manual
For further information on other available Tandem TCP/IP manuals and an extensive
list of outside references on the TCP/IP and TELNET protocols, refer to the preface of
the Tandem TCP/IP Manual.
