Configure the Subsystem for DUAL-Mode, Address
Autoconfiguration and Ethernet Failover, Nonshared IP
This example provides the same features as Example 1-7 on page 1-16, with the
addition of Ethernet failover with nonshared IP addresses.
This example differs from Example 1-8 on page 1-17 in that you do not need to include
the IPV6INTERFACEID attribute; a unique IPv6 interface is automatically generated.
You also do not need to specify the RESERVEDIP and IPV6RESERVEDID attributes.
When you add a SUBNET for use with Ethernet failover as shown in Example 1-9 on
page 1-19, you must set the FAMILY attribute to DUAL during the add SUBNET
command.
1. Find two LIFs for communications by following the procedure Select a LIF of TYPE
ETHERNET for communications. on page 1-3.
2. Create the TCPIPUP command file to bring up the SUBNETs:
Note. You cannot add Ethernet failover to an existing SUBNET; hence, this example starts
fresh with a new SUBNET.
Note. If you want to use Ethernet failover and you want to be able to service Ethernet 4
ServerNet adapters (E4SAs) or Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapters (G4SAs) without
taking down TCP/IP communications, select two LIFs from different adapters.
Note. Before following any of these procedures, you must have real values for the variables in
the examples (indicated with italics).
