Procedures for Migrating to NonStop
TCP/IPv6
This section discusses migration at a high level and refers you to the TCP/IPv6
Configuration and Management Manual and the TCP/IP Programming Manual for
detailed procedures.

Migrating Conventional NonStop TCP/IP to
NonStop TCP/IPv6
NonStop TCP/IP is still required on your NonStop server to support TSM (NonStop
S-series servers only), OSM, and some communication protocols, such as token-ring
and ATM. To migrate to NonStop TCP/IPv6, you install NonStop TCP/IPv6 in parallel
with NonStop TCP/IP by following the procedures in the TCP/IPv6 Configuration and
Management Manual. Also documented in TCP/IPv6 Configuration and Management
Manual are procedures for falling back to NonStop TCP/IP.
See Tips for Migrating from NonStop TCP/IP to NonStop TCP/IPv6 on page 3-10.
Migrating Parallel Library TCP/IP to NonStop
TCP/IPv6
To migrate from Parallel Library TCP/IP to NonStop TCP/IPv6:
1. Follow the tips in Tips for Migrating From Parallel Library TCP/IP to NonStop
TCP/IPv6 on page 3-15.
2. Follow the procedures for stopping the Parallel Library TCP/IP subsystem that are
documented in the TCP/IP (Parallel Library) Configuration and Management
Manual.
3. Follow the procedures for installing the new subsystem documented in the
TCP/IPv6 Configuration and Management Manual.
Note. When planning to migrate to NonStop TCP/IPv6, ensure that any firewall products that
you use support gratuitous ARP packets.
