burst. Multiple duplicate First Failure Data Capture (FFDC) events issued by an FFDC
instrument program or subsystem.
CONFLIST. The system configuration data file.
core services. The portion of the operating system that consists of the low-level functions,
including interprocess communication; I/O interface procedures; and memory, time,
and process management.
CPU DOWN files. These files are products of the TFDS activity that occurs each time a
CPU DOWN message is being processed. Two different sets of files are generated,
CPU DOWN dump files and log files.
DIVER. A utility of the NonStop Kernel used to reset processors. This utility can be useful
for testing that TFDS runs in the backup processor when the primary processor stops.
dump. A copy of an audited disk file (online dump) written to tape or disk.
EMS. See Event Management Service (EMS).
EMSLOG files. A set of files that includes information from the EMS event log.
ESLOG files. The primary files that contain information related to the HP Tandem
Maintenance and Diagnostic System (TMDS) logs.
ESLOG0 files. Files with information related to the alternate-key file required by the ESLOG
file.
Event Management Service (EMS). A service that receives and logs information about
important events that occur in TFDS and in the user interface (TFDSCOM).
Fast Memory Dump (FMD). A feature that reduces time spent dumping a halted processor
by taking two smaller dumps rather than just one large dump.
GARTH. A utility of the NonStop Kernel. The GARTH tool is used to examine processor
dumps.
GCSC. Global Customer Support Center.
HP NonStop Kernel operating system. The operating system, which consists of the core
and system services. The operating system does not include any application program
interfaces.
HP NonStop Transaction Management Facility (TMF). A component of the NonStop
Kernel. This subsystem performs transaction monitoring and control functions.
