What to Do After a Software Failure
What to Do After a Software Failure
A software failure event in the EMS log notifies you of a software failure. This event
contains information such as the product number and halt code related to the incident.
Notification is also available through your system-management tools.
For critical failures, a dial-out feature is available through your system-management
tools to forward the event to your service provider.
What you need to do next depends on your configuration:
If TFDS is running and configured for automatic dumping and reloading, the EMS
log prompts you to mount a tape (optional) when TFDS completes its analysis and
data collection. Then, if necessary, retrieve the tape that contains the failure data
and forward it to your service provider.
If TFDS is not running or is not configured for automatic dumping and reloading,
you can manually dump the processor, but the process remains down until a reload
is performed.
