Viewing and Changing TFDS Configuration Options
This table lists each TFDSCOM command that affects TFDS configuration settings.
Consequences of Configuration Settings
To customize TFDS to meet your needs, you must understand the consequences of
the TFDS configuration settings. For example, in its default configuration, TFDS
automatically collects failure data and reloads software-related downed processors. In
your environment, it might be more important to skip the data collection and get the
downed processor automatically reloaded as quickly as possible. For an example of
changing the configuration settings to disable automatic dumping of halted processors,
see the following subsection, Changing the TFDS Default to Enable Automatic
Dumping.
Weigh your need to gather failure data versus your need to get a processor reloaded
as quickly as possible for the RETRY-DUMP parameter on page 4-34. It controls the
number of times TFDS attempts a dump after the initial dump fails. Within this
configuration option, you can specify that a processor reload on failure after TFDS
exhausts the specified number of retries without collecting a complete dump, or you
can have the processor remain down to allow continued efforts to obtain a valid
processor dump.
Other examples of default setting consequences include:
For possible system load consequences of allowing more than one concurrent
dump, see What to Do After a Software Failure on page 2-6.
