Changing the TFDS Default to Enable Automatic
Dumping
•
If you do not specify a DUMPVOLUME location, TFDS searches for the volume
with the most space available each time. This action could result in scattering
TFDS incident information across many volumes.
For more information on the commands that control configuration settings and the
consequences of the default settings, see Section 4, Using TFDSCOM Commands.
Changing the TFDS Default to Enable Automatic Dumping
This example demonstrates how to use a TFDSCOM command to change a TFDS
configuration parameter and how to save the change so it remains in effect even after
TFDS is restarted.
To enable automatic backup of failure data to tape:
1. Start TFDSCOM:
TFDSCOM
2. Enable automatic processor dumping:
AUTODUMP ON
3. Save the changes to the configuration file:
SAVE
4. Stop TFDSCOM:
EXIT
TFDS Configuration File Commands
The following commands change the TFDS configuration file but are not TFDSCOM
commands.
ALTERNATE-VOLUMES
This command defines a set of alternate volumes that will be searched for space for
dump files if the volume specified in the DUMPVOLUME command does not contain
enough space for the dump. DUMPVOLUME must have ALTERNATE VOLUMES
ALLOWED specified.
volume-name
represents a volume that will be considered as a location for an incident file.
Guidelines
•
You must execute the ALTERNATE-VOLUMES command every time you want to
add another alternate volume.
