AUTOBACKUP
value might lock out other tasks from starting. Lowering the parameter slows the
time for the complete processor memory to be returned to system operation.
AUTOBACKUP
The AUTOBACKUP command specifies whether the dump and auxiliary files are
automatically backed up to tape.
ON
indicates that the dump and auxiliary files are automatically backed up.
OFF
indicates that the dump and auxiliary files are not automatically backed up. The
default AUTOBACKUP setting is OFF.
Guidelines
You can use the abbreviation ab in place of AUTOBACKUP.
For information about which files are always saved during a backup and how to
use ACQUIREFILES to specify additional files for backup, see ACQUIREFILES on
page 4-4.
If the AUTOBACKUP is set to OFF, you can still back up the files with the BACKUP
command. For more information on the BACKUP command, see page 4-10.
AUTOBACKUP applies to all incidents that occur in the system, whether triggered
by a software-related processor failure or software instrumentation.
After TFDS collects all of the related dump information, it verifies the state of the
AUTOBACKUP flag. If this flag is set to ON, these files are included with all the
files that are backed up.
AUTOBACKUP { ON | OFF }
Caution. If AUTOBACKUP is ON, TFDS backs up dump information to a specified tape drive
(or one found to be suitable on your system if none is specified). To learn how to specify a tape
drive, see TA PE on page 4-37. Review your backup procedures to prevent TFDS from using a
mounted tape that is not write protected or protected with labeled-tape software.
