What Are The Most
Common TGAL
Commands Used?
To format a document, you need only a few commands. As the specifications for a
document become more complex, you can add more commands to your file. Listed
below are the most frequently used TGAL commands. Refer to Section 2, “TGAL
Commands,” for additional information on these commands.
POFF controls the left margin.
OUTLEN controls the line length and thus the right margin.
TEXT joins uneven text lines and right justifies them.
HEAD adds a heading to each page of your document.
SUBHEAD adds a subheading to each page of your document.
FOOT adds a footing to each page of your document.
OV controls overstriking of portions of text, allowing you to create
underlined or boldfaced text.
CENTER centers any number of text lines.
TODAY allows you to choose the format for printing today’s date when specified
with the HEAD, SUBHEAD, or FOOT commands.
NEW prints your file on a new page.
SECT controls page numbering and section naming.
BOX creates boxes around text.
