TODAY Command Use the TODAY command to establish the format in which the current date prints
when you specify the TODAY option in a HEAD, SUBHEAD, or FOOT command. In
these commands you should include at least one space between the end of the text and
the closing string separator (“), before the TODAY command, because the date is
printed immediately to the right of the specified text.
The syntax of the TODAY command is:
TODAY
SHORT
LONG
["
s
"]
USA
WORLD
["
month1
month2
‚...‚
month12
"]
SHORT
indicates the date is to be printed in digits.
"
s
"
specifies the character that is to separate the digits when the short form of the date
is requested. This character cannot be a quotation mark. If you omit this option,
TGAL prints a slash for the USA option and a period for the WORLD option.
LONG
indicates the date is to be printed with the month spelled out.
USA
indicates that the month is to be listed first in the date.
WORLD
indicates that the day is to be listed first in the date.
month1
,
month2
,...,
month12
specifies the name of the months to be used whenever the LONG option is
specified. You can have up to 256 characters, and you must have commas between
the quotation marks. (The names of the months can be changed by customizing
TGAL; see Section 4, “Tailoring TGAL,” for details.)
