TOPMARGIN
Command
Use the TOPMARGIN command to determine the size of the top margin. TGAL
spaces down the specified number of lines before printing any text. The number you
specify in the TOPMARGIN command includes the lines designated for the heading,
subheading, and blank line that precede the first text line. The TOPMARGIN
command does not alter the placement of the lines on which the HEAD command and
SUBHEAD command print in relation to the first line of text. The lines on which the
HEAD command and SUBHEAD command print remain the second and third lines
from the first text line, respectively.
The syntax of the TOPMARGIN command is:
TOPMARGIN
number
number
specifies the number of lines to space before the first line of text. Most printers
have either six or eight lines to an inch. This can be any number from
6 through 30.
Considerations
The PAGELEN command must be set to a value that can contain the
BOTTOMMARGIN, the TOPMARGIN, and at least one line of text.
If you do not use this command, TGAL assumes:
TOPMARGIN 6
Example
This example shows using the TOPMARGIN command to add a top margin to the top
of every printed page. Notice in the example the subheading and heading appear
within the boundaries of the top margin. If you enter:
\TOPMARGIN 10
