About This Manual
This manual introduces the basic concepts of transaction processing and the features
of the HP NonStop™ Transaction Management Facility, commonly known as TMF and
called by that name throughout this manual. TMF provides transaction protection,
database consistency, and database recovery on HP NonStop servers.
Use this manual to learn how TMF works to protect business data in local and
distributed databases. To learn more about this manual, read the following topics:

previous transaction management background.
Note. This product was formerly called the NonStop Transaction Manager/MP (TM/MP)
product, and the TMF subsystem was identified as the main functional component of the
product. HP has now chosen to call the product by its main component’s name for simplicity.
