Checking File-Recovery Status
Checking File-Recovery Status
The file recovery process generates event messages while it runs. Check the EMS log
to monitor the process. Alternatively, you can use the STATUS OPERATIONS
command (see Maintaining TMF Operations on page 2-24) to check the status of the
file recovery operation. When the file recovery process completes, perform an online
dump of the volume on which you recovered files and return to storage all dump tapes
used during the recovery.
Recovering NonStop SMF Files
The RECOVER FILES command provides options that allow you to refer to physical
disk volumes managed by the HP NonStop Storage Management Foundation (SMF)
product. The SMF software enhances automatic management of system storage. It
provides optimal use of storage devices, furnishes a set of tools for managing storage-
related crises to reduce downtime, and automates several basic functions as well as
complex tasks. Among the automated basic functions are: selecting a volume on
which to create a file, backing up and dumping files, archiving files, and managing
temporary file space. Among the automated complex tasks are: managing file
availability in instances of planned and unplanned events, incorporating new volumes
into a system, and dynamically partitioning a database. For information about the
RECOVER FILES options that support SMF functions, see the discussion that follows.
For complete information about the SMF product, see the Storage Management
Foundation Users Guide.
