TMF objects, including audit-trail volumes, data volumes, local and distributed
transactions, and TMF operations.
Section 3, Occasional Operations, tells how to perform TMF operations that are
needed only periodically and are not considered part of routine TMF maintenance.
Section 4, Audit Dumps, explains how to prepare for and make audit dumps that
preserve audit-trail files for use during file recovery.
Section 5, Online Dumps, describes how to prepare for and make online dumps that
preserve audited data files for use during file recovery.
Section 6, The TMF Catalog, explains how the TMF catalog functions and the
operations you perform to maintain it. The TMF catalog records information about
audit and online dump media, specifying where all dumped files reside and which
dump media are available for reuse.
Section 7, Recovery Methods, discusses how the TMF recovery processes (backout,
volume recovery, and file recovery) work. It provides examples of how to recover from,
or prevent, a variety of situations that could damage your database.
Appendix A, Dump Tracking Forms, provides forms to help you keep track of audit
dumps and online dumps.
Appendix B, Managing Enscribe Files, summarizes how to create and manage audited
Enscribe database files on a TMF system.
Appendix C, Managing SQL Objects, summarizes how to create and manage audited
NonStop SQL objects on a TMF system.
