This is the eighth edition of the HP NonStop TMF Operations and Recovery Guide.
This edition describes the features and operations provided by the new TMF 3.3
product. In addition, this edition incorporates the previously published document, TMF
Supplement for Large Audit-Trail Files.
This edition includes the following new and changed information:
Section 1, Overview of TMF Maintenance and Recovery, updates the following
discussions:
°
Displaying TMF Status to cover the TMP wait timer attribute now displayed by
the STATUS TMF command.
°
Displaying Configuration Attributes to cover the following attributes now
displayed by the INFO TMF command: Audit-Trail Format, GoRemote,
PioBuffer, and TransactionProtocol.
Section 2, Routine Maintenance, updates the following discussions:
°
Displaying Audit-Trail Activity, adding a note about RDF/ZLT.
°
Reason: Required by RDF environment, adding new information.
°
** WRONG DISK VOLUME MOUNTED **, clarifying existing information.
°
Displaying Transaction Activity, describing the new SORT option in the
STATUS TRANSACTIONS command and the new Backout Assigned field in
the output displayed.
In addition, this section introduces the new Large Audit Trails discussion.
Section 3, Occasional Operations, updates the Stopping TMF discussion, clarifies
the Reason: Long-running transaction discussion, and adds a note to the Adding
Another Active-Audit Volume discussion. This section also adds the following new
discussions:

Using ALTER AUDITTRAIL with RDF/ZLT (covering the new audit-hold
feature).

Requesting Performance-Tuning Operations.
Section 5, Online Dumps, updates the Selecting Dump Options and DUMP FILES
Command Examples discussions to describe the new <file-name> and NOT
<file-name> options. These options each specify a file that contains one or
more file-name patterns. These patterns, in turn, designate files to be dumped (or
not dumped) to tape or disk by the DUMP FILES command.
Section 6, The TMF Catalog, updates the Displaying the Catalog discussion to
describe the new <file-name> option. This option specifies a file that contains
one more file-name patterns that, in turn, designate dump files for which
information is to be displayed by the INFO DUMPS command.
