7-8
RECOVER FILES Command With No Options
5. Reads the active-audit trail to find the incomplete transactions that affected files
specified in the RECOVER FILES command. During this step, the file recovery
process produces EMS Message 402:
Phase 2 of file recovery completed at
atseqno atseqno RBA rba.
6. Backs out any partial transactions remaining in the files. During this step, the file
recovery process generates EMS Message 403:
Phase 3 of recovery completed at
atseqno atseqno RBA rba.
7. Clears the redo-needed and undo-needed flags for files that were recovered.
8. Deletes audit-trail files from the restore-audit volume when the files are no longer
needed.
Because this type of file recovery includes restoring online dumps from tape or disk,
reading audit dumps, and redoing many transactions, it takes longer than a file
recovery that requires only the undoing of partial transactions, and longer than volume
recovery.
RECOVER FILES Command With No Options
When you issue the RECOVER FILES command without specifying recovery options,
the file recovery process attempts to recover those files marked undo-needed or redo-
needed as follows:
•
If the file is marked as only undo-needed, the file recovery process performs Steps
6 through 8 of the procedure described under RECOVER FILES Command With
FROMARCHIVE Option on page 7-7.
•
If the file is marked as redo-needed, the file recovery process performs all eight
steps of the procedure described under RECOVER FILES Command With
FROMARCHIVE Option on page 7-7.
Note. If you specified the TIME, TOFIRSTPURGE, or TOMATPOSITION option in the
RECOVER FILES command, the next step (Step 7) does not begin until new disk process
(DP2) control points are generated for all disk volumes involved in the recovery process.
